Большие Congratulations!
KELT would like to congratulate KELTian Katya Dzvonik for her recent acceptance into the MFA Acting Program at the University of South Carolina, in the United States!
Katya first became involved with KELT in the 2004 production of A 21st Century Christmas Carol, and went on to be involved with many KELT productions including A Company of Wayward Saints, A Christmas Story, The V Monologues, The 2006 Summer Tour, and The Earring. Katya has also been Costume Designer, and she is currently costume designer for Grease as well as co-directing Chekhov's The Proposal.
In January, Katya went to San Diego to audition at the University/Resident Theatre Association in front of several representing graduate acting programs in the United States. Katya was asked to interview with the University of South Carolina and was recently emailed with an offer to join their class of 2013. Katya will be beginning her three years of intensive acting training this fall.
Katya is the first member of KELT to attend a graduate acting training program, and we at KELT are so excited and proud!
Break a leg, K8 D, and remember KELT when you get your first Oscar!

It's 1959 and Rydell high is filled with rebellious, thrill-loving students. In the midst of this scene, good girl Sandy Olsen enters as the new girl in school. It turns out that she and the head greaser, Danny Zuko, had a brief love affair the summer before.

KELT Almaty 2009 Summer Tour
In 2006, the Kazakhstan English Language Theater adventured across the Central Asian steppes on our first tour that went from Baku through Atyrau to Astana and back to Almaty. This year, KELT performed another tour that revisited Atyrau, Astana and Almaty - and visited Bishkek for the first time!
During the tour, KELT presented three fantastic English language plays, appropriate for all ages:
Kolobok - Musical interpretation of a Russian fairytale about a bun that tries not to get eaten by a variety of different forest animals.
The Golden Ribka - a KELT interpretation of the Russian fairytale about a golden fish who offers a greedy man three wishes.
Dead of the Night - Henry fakes his own death to see what his family really thinks about him and in the process uncovers all the family "skeletons". Written by Friend of KELT, Harold Nesbitt.
Report from Atyrau: KELT had a very successful run in Atyrau from May 27 to May 31. Performances at the Dostyk school, QSI school, Zhilgoradok Theater, and workshops with KELT Atyrau were very well received!

Hi guys and girls! I’m member of KELT (Atyrau) from April 2009. So during that period I have improved my theatrical skills and found a lot of friends here. When I came here for the first time I really didn’t know what theatre is. But in KELT I have found my hidden talent, talent of acting. Besides acting we play many games; some are very silly some are too serious. But we are having good time there. To whom who like such kind of games our doors always open. And if you want to act in real scene we have Master Class, where we are rehearsing our current play. That’s really good place, because we don’t have an age limit or any rules. Only one rule: spend time as well as it possible. So join us!!! And don’t be shy!!!

Thanks for the encouragement! We hope we'll be in the U.S. soon, too! If anyone has any idea on the best way to bring over a group of English speaking Kazakhstani actors to perform in any sort of venue in the U.S., we'll be happy to talk!
